Daniel P. Bitzel

Daniel P. Bitzel, 92, of Malvern, passed away, Friday, August 24th, 2012 at Aultman Hospital, following a short illness.

Daniel was born in Waynesburg, OH on August 19, 1920, the son of the late Joseph and Eleanora (Ceriscoli) Bitzel.

He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Valley Post 375 American Legion for 65 years, and the Men's Club at St. Francis Xavier. Daniel served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WW II.

He worked as a Purchasing Agent at Whitacre-Greer Fireproofing and retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company

Daniel is survived by two daughters, Mary A Coyne of Massillon, Theresa M Bitzel of Columbus; grandchildren Theresa (David) Wilson of Chicago, Shawn (Lori) Coyne of Jackson Township, Danielle (Domenic) Manley of Columbus, great-grandchildren Katie and Madison Wilson of Chicago, Dylan and Jacob Coyne of Jackson Township, Sophia Manley of Columbus, two sisters, Helen Bitzel of Waynesburg, Donna Bitzel of Columbus; brother-in-law William (Viola) Pietrafese of Salem; special niece and god-daughter Jane Phillips of Minerva; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Daniel is preceded in death by his wife, Madeline (Pietrafese) Bitzel, sister Theresa Bitzel, brother Reno Bitzel, and great grandson Brandon Coyne

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 29th, 2012 with Celebrant Fr. Vic Cinson. Calling hours will be held Tuesday 6 - 9 p. m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.
