Obituary

Bette Lou George, 74, of Alliance, passed into the loving arms of her parents, Wednesday, January 13th, 2016 in Aultman Hospital.

Bette was born in Minerva on February 3, 1941, daughter of the late Harry K and Josephine (Veazey) George.

She was an English teacher, yearbook advisor, Senior Class advisor and drama director at Minerva High School for 35 years. She was a graduate of Minerva High School, Mount Union College with a Master's Degree from the Breadloaf School of Literature at Middlebury College in Vermont. She did additional study at The University of Alaska at Anchorage, the University of Hawaii, and the University of London in London, England. She was considered an authority on the writings of Thomas Hardy. After retirement, she worked at Rodman Public Library, and Mount Union College Library as the Director of the Research Department.

She was elected Regent of the Great Trail Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Bette is survived by a brother, Thomas (Kaaren) George, of Medina; nieces Holly George and Becky George of Medina, aunt, Betty Mayle, nephews Ron (Donna) Mayle and Rick (Lori) Mayle all of Alliance, her best friend Sandra Stamey and her beloved dog Roxy Blue.

Funeral services will be held at Bartley Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 19th, 2016 with Rev. Joe Ertl officiating. Calling hours will be held Monday 2 - 4 & 6 - 8 p. m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairmont Memorial Park.

Family request donations to Minerva Education Association which includes the Lee Jackson Scholarship or the Great Trail Chapter of D.A.R..
