Bruce L. Schmidt, 85, of Oneida , left his earthly body to enter eternity with his Lord and Savior, Monday, March 26th, 2012 at 4:30 a.m. after a six year battle with cancer.

Bruce was born in Smithville, OH on March 9, 1927, the son of the late Donald J. and Elsie V (Yarman) Schmidt.

He was an educator for over 30 years, serving as Principal of Malvern High School for two years and Superintendent of Brown Local Schools for thirteen years.

He was a member of Little Country Church, State Teachers Retirement System, Carroll County Historical Society, Carroll County Retired Teachers, American Legion and Fostoria Masonic Bodies.

He served his country in the Army during WW II.
He loved his family very much and designed and built a large family room which we all enjoyed.

Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Joan (Harsh) Schmidt; two sons Doug (Kathi) Schmidt of Malvern., David (Patti) Schmidt of Canton; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary (Clarence) Bennett of Malvern.

He is preceded in death by two sons, his parents and two sisters.

Funeral Services will be held at Little Country Church, Waynesburg, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 30th, 2012 with Rev. Bill Carter and Rev. Dale Boston officiating..

Calling hours will be held Thursday 5 - 8 p.m. at the Deckman-Bartley Funeral Home, Malvern. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery.
