Carol Dawn Calkins, 73, of Lisbon passed away, Sunday, September 18th, 2011 at Salem Community Hospital following a brief illness.
Carol was born in Bayard, OH on September 3, 1938, the daughter of the late Oscar and Carolyn (Tarbet) Erb.
She was a member of First Christian Church of Kensington, active in the Harmony Class, Ladies Aide Society, and was a charter member of the United Quilters Guild.
Carol was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved to sew. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed teaching her craft to others.
Carol is survived by her husband of 52 years, Delmar Calkins; two daughters, Belinda Niswonger of Lisbon, Carolyn (Randy) Mattevi of Lisbon; grandchildren Abby Niswonger, Kelly Niswonger, Lukas Mattevi, Carrie Mattevi; great-granddaughter Madison Spalding; a sister, Kay Darby of Industrial City, CA; two brothers, Vaughn (Diana) Erb of Kensington, Vinton (Honie) Milbank of Hanoverton.
Funeral Services will be held at the Bartley Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 22nd, 2011 with Mr. Lloyd Campbell and Mr. Eugene Hydrick officiating. Calling hours will be held Wednesday 6 - 8 pm. at the Bartley Funeral Home. Burial will be in Heritage Memorial Gardens.
