Obituary for Dorothy Irene Jenkins

Dorothy Irene Jenkins, age 91 of Minerva, passed away at Aultman Compassionate Care Center on Monday, June 4, 2018 following a short illness. Dorothy was born in Minerva, Ohio on December 22, 1926 to Frank L and Margaret (Marteney) Slack.

She was a member of the First Christian Church of Minerva, the Mother Singers, a volunteer at Mary Irene Day Elementary School, a Den Mother, a Founding Trustee of Minerva Education Foundation & Alumni Association, Chorister, and a member of the U&I Sunday School Class. She was a huge fan of Minerva Girls' Athletics and enjoyed doing calligraphy.

Dorothy is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Martin and Sondra Jenkins, Jr., of Minerva; grandchildren, Kelli (Rod) Baxter of Naples, FL, Karla Dennis and Kris (Mike) Fry of Canton, Kyle Dennis of Houston, TX; great-grandchildren Brennan (Brooke) Wollam, Natalie Wollam both of Minerva, Kaiya Watauchi of Kent, Lillie and Maegan McArdle of Canton; and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Martin G Jenkins Sr., and brothers, Earl L Slack and Carl Slack.

Funeral services will be held at First Christian Church of Minerva, 300 West Lincolnway, Minerva, Ohio, on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 12:00 PM with Dale Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at First Christian Church of Minerva. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to First Christian Church of Minerva.
