Douglas Ray Butler, 62, of Malvern, passed away, Sunday, April 13th, 2014 at Aultman Hospital, following a long illness.
Doug was born in Beckley, West Virginia on April 16, 1951, a son of the late Thomas and Mildred (Smith) Butler.
He was a machine operator at Colfor in Malvern for over twenty-five years. He was active in law enforcement since 1971, serving as Waynesburg Chief of Police, Carroll County Deputy Sheriff, a ranger at Atwood Lake and Lake Mohawk Security. He loved hunting and fishing.
Doug is survived by a daughter, Laura J Butler, of Malvern ; a son, Douglas W Butler , of Malvern; grandchildren Alex Butler, Olen Butler, Makayla Butler; three sisters, Rosemary (Ricky) Simmons, of Malvern ; Barbara Grindstaff, of Carrollton ; Norma Cole , of Massillon; five brothers, Thomas (Kathy) Butler, of Concord, NC; Richard (Cheryl) Butler, of Canton; David Butler, of Malvern; Paul (Ruth) Butler, of Carrollton, Wade (Kim) Dean of Waynesburg and a special aunt Delsie McKinney.
He is preceded in death by a sister, Susan Butler and a brother, Jim Butler.
Funeral Services will be held at the Deckman-Bartley Funeral Home, Malvern, Ohio , at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 17th, 2014 with Rev. A Wallace Anderson officiating.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, 7 - 9 p.m. and Thursday, one hour before services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery.
