Forest Edward Van Horn

March 26, 1940 — November 4, 2021

Forest Edward Van Horn, age 81 of Minerva, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at Mercy Medical. Forest was born in West Union, West Virginia on March 26, 1940 to Hubert Sr. and Trecie (Simmons) Van Horn.

Forest worked for the Wabash Railroad and Norfolk Southern Railroad. He was an avid camper, fisherman, and hunter. His family was of utmost importance. He loved vacationing with them and enjoyed making people laugh. He loved his friends, church family, and adoring puppies, Teddy and Fannie.

Forest is survived by his wife, Sue of Minerva; a daughter, Casey (Gary) Thacker of Peru IN; a son, Forest Edward (Marie Skiles) Van Horn II of Peru IN; three step-daughters: Denise Kennedy of Destin FL, Kimberly Markopoulos (Robert Lewis) of Sagamore Hills, and Melissa (Sean) Stranger of Canton; ten grandchildren: Troy, Autumn, Olivia, Elijah, Nickolas, Noah, Rebekah, Rachel, Josh, and Corey; a brother, Hubert Van Horn Jr of Minerva; a sister, Velva Van Horn of Olive Hill KY; and many special nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Forest was preceded in death by six sisters.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, November 14, 2021, at the New Garden United Methodist Church, 7165 State Route 9, Hanoverton (New Garden) with Rev. Thomas Scott officiating.  Calling hours will be one hour prior to the service.
