HAROLD "LINK" NEAL
Harold "Link" Neal went to be with his wife Anna, his daughter Mary Ann and the Lord on Tuesday August 21, 2012.
Link was born in Massillon, Ohio on February 26, 1931, son of Marjorie Boerner and Harold Myers. Link lost his father at a young age and was adopted by Marjorie's new husband Wilber "Wib" Neal.
Harold got his nickname "Link", shortened from "lanky", for being the tallest basketball player on teams for Saint Joseph's Grade School and Central Catholic High School. Link attended Kent State University and served in the U.S. Navy Reserves as a Seaman 1st Class.
Link's trade was a carpenter, creating his own business, Link Neal Construction. He built many fine homes throughout Canton and the Lake Mohawk area. He went on to become a successful Real Estate broker with Century 21. He joined forces with his wife to create their own company, Link Neal Realty.
Link was an active member of St. Michael's Church in Canton and then St. Francis Xavier Church in Malvern. He was a member of the Knight's of Columbus and after he retired, Link donated his time and efforts to Habitat for Humanity.
Link enjoyed bowling, boating and restoring old or wrecked cars -- he was a Master tinkerer! He and Anna formed a Gourmet Club to spend time with their many friends. Link's first love was his family where he was actively involved in their lives.
He is preceded in death by his parents and step-father, his daughter Mary Ann (Neal) Pritchard in 2000 and his loving wife Anna (Kozauer) Neal in 2008. Link is survived by two children, Chris (Frank) Vecchio of Burton and Joseph (fiance Rebecca Shimer) Neal of North Canton; six grandchildren, Patty Miller, Stacy Latham, Ryan Neal, Robbie Neal, Nikki Neal and Annamaria Vecchio and four great-grandchildren.
We will all miss Link's fun loving attitude along with his generous and caring spirit.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm, Saturday August 25th in St. Michael's Church, with celebrant Fr. Robert Kaylor. Calling hours will be held Saturday, one hour before services at St. Michael's Church. Burial services will follow at St. Peters Cemetery.
