Hubert Van Horn Jr., age 92 of Malvern, passed away at Rose Lane Nursing & Rehabilitation on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. Hubert was born in West Union, West Virginia on June 2, 1934 to Hubert Sr. and Trecie (Simmons) Van Horn.
His life was marked by service and commitment, both in his professional endeavors and his time in the Air Force. Hubert served 20 years during the Viet Nam era.
Hubert served diligently at Transue Williams as a laborer. He was a respected member of the FOR #2199 , American Legion Malvern Post #375 as well as VFW #4120. His career extended to Bartley Funeral Home and Ambulance Service, where he devoted 37 years, offering comfort and assistance to countless families in their times of need. Hubert will be remembered for his unwavering dedication and the positive impact he had on his community and those around him.
Hubert is survived by his two daughters: Cheryl Clark of Minera and Lisa Bitzel of Alliance; a son, Bradford Van Horn of Minerva; grandchildren: MacKenzie (Jordan) Ringer of Hartville, Morgan Bitzel of Columbus, Madison Bitzel of North Canton, Kyle Bitzel of Akron, Tiffany (Mansour) Al-lahabi of Minerva, Jeremy Pugh of Magnolia, Kristen Clark of Minerva, Emily (Zach) McGuire of Canton, and Jessica(Jose) Alvarez of Effingham GA; 5 great-grandchildren; and his special friend, Patricia Stryffeler of New Garden.
In addition to his parents, Hubert was preceded in death by his wife, Louise (Shields) Van Horn and 9 siblings: Virginia, Dorothy, Edna, Mary, Velva, Helen, Shirley, Glenda, and Forest.
Funeral service will be held at Bartley Funeral Home, 205 West Lincoln Way, Minerva, Ohio, on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Dante DiGiacomo of New Garden Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Bartley Funeral Home.
