Jack E. Saling, 81, of Minerva, passed away, Tuesday, September 24th, 2013 at Canterbury Villa Of Alliance following a long illness.
Jack was born in East Rochester, Ohio on December 9, 1931, a son of the late James A. and Rosa M. (Ramsey) Saling.
He farmed all of his life and was a long distance truck retiring from Central Transport.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post 357, 40 et 8, and the Minerva Area Historical Society.
Jack is survived by his wife, Shirley (Pennock) Saling; two daughters, Kathy Jo (Mark) Smithers, of Chelsea, AL and Gloria "Gordie" Jean (David) Donohue, of Minerva; ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great granddaughters; two sisters, Ruth Johnson, of TN; Emma Brown, of Minerva; and a brother, James (Linda) Saling, of East Rochester and Florida.
He is preceded in death by brothers Everett, Jr., Marion, Charles W. "Bill", Clarence, sisters Edna, Bertha, Lola, and Loritta.
Funeral Services will be held at the Great Trail Community Church of God, Minerva, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 28th, 2013 with Pastor Ray Martin officiating. Calling hours will be held Friday 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m. at the Bartley Funeral Home. Burial will be in Augusta Cemetery.
