Janet Louise Swinehart, 77, of Minerva, passed away, Tuesday, May 20th, 2014 at her home surrounded by family.

Janet was born in Cleveland, OH on September 5, 1936, a daughter of the late Elmer A and Octavia M (Mott) Lee.

She was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church.

Janet pursued many careers during her life, working first at O'Neil's in Alliance, Cross Drug and Dillon Drug in Minerva. As her interests turned to caring for the elderly, she worked at the Minerva Nursing Home, Minerva Convalescent Center, Carroll Healthcare, and even cared for elderly ladies in her home. Rather than retired, she opened Calico Grandma's Craft Store with her sister.

Janet was a volunteer with Minerva Community Meals, Bingo at the church and was an Auxiliary member of Eagles and VFW. She was active in politics, serving as Precinct Chairwoman for the Carroll County Democratic Party, and as a Poll Worker for the Board of Elections.

Janet is survived by three sons Thomas L. Davidson, of Bremerton, WA; James L. (Michelle) Davidson, of Cardington, OH; David L. Davidson, of Minerva; a step daughter, Elizabeth (Tom) Calhoun, of Minerva; a step son, Chris (Margie) Swinehart, of Minerva; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, a sister, Nancy (Bill) Leitner, of Canton; a brother, Michael (Ritsuko) Lee, of Minerva and her beloved cat, Joey.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence E. Swinehart in 2001.

The family wishes to give a special thank you to her caregiver, Starr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, at 11:00 am on Friday, May 23rd, 2014 with Celebrant Fr. Victor Cinson. Calling Hours will be held Thursday 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 pm. at the Bartley Funeral Home, and Friday one hour before services at the church. A Prayer service will be held at 8:45 pm Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery.
