Janet Marie Van Fossen, age 93 formerly of Alliance, passed away at Minerva Healthcare and Rehabilitation on Thursday, June 19, 2025. Janet was born in Akron, Ohio on October 19, 1931 to Ralph and Gertrude (McCurdy) Bauhart.

Janet was a proud 1950 graduate of Ellet High School and regularly attended class reunions. Janet was a member of the Alliance First Friends Church. Her faith was a guiding light later in her life. Janet found immense joy in reading, often losing herself in the pages of a good book. She loved her family and treasured every moment spent with them. She will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her loved ones.

Janet had a particular fondness for cats, and her home was always filled with their gentle presence. She also enjoyed watching the birds outside her window.

Janet has left behind a legacy of love and cherished memories for all who knew her. She is survived by two daughters: Barbara Sallade of Louisville and Terrie Horton of Orrville; three sons: Chris (Dena) Cooper of Paris, Mark (Renee) Cooper of Hudson, North Carolina, and Wayne Van Fossen of Minerva; eight grandchildren: Chris, Angie, Channie, Markie, Marie, Elizabeth, Alexis, and Noah; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother Roger (Betty) Bauhart of Mogadore; and three nieces: Jeanne Bauhart, Kathy Hora, Mary Beth Pelc and their families all of Mogadore.

In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her son-in-law, James Sallade; granddaughters, Alexandria Van Fossen and Nikki Wilson as well as two nieces: Becky and Susan Bauhart.

Funeral service will be held at Alliance First Friends Church, 1307 West State Street, Alliance, Ohio, on Monday, June 23, 2025, at 11:00 AM with Pastor Russell Gumm of Alliance First Friends Church officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Calling hours will be Monday, June 23, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Alliance First Friends Church.
