John Henry Kress II, age 72 of Minerva, passed away in his home on Thursday, April 2, 2020. John was born in Canton, Ohio on November 12, 1947 a son of the late John Kress and Blanche (Kandel) Kress.

He and his brothers owned Kress IGA in East Canton. He loved giving and helping others and loved studying Biblical history.  John served with the 155 Assault Helicopter Company as a Helicopter Gunner during the Vietnam War.

John is survived by his wife of 46 years, Christine Kress; daughter, Alissa (Ronald) Johnson, of Carrollton; sons, Matt Kress, of St. Petersburg, FL, John H. (Betty) Kress III, of North Benton; grandchildren, Makayen, Noah, Chloe Sallade, and Meesha (David) Caplinger; brother, David (Linda) Kress, of Louisville; sisters: Barbara Jacobson of North Canton, Jean Boggs of North Canton, Joan Kress of North Canton, and Mary Ann Saur of Ft. Myers, FL; and many nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Kress; and sisters: Nancy Meeks and Beverly Kress.

His wishes were to be cremated. There will be no services.
