Joseph H. Petty, Sr.
Joseph Hayes Petty Sr., 65, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 29, 201,5 at the Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling WV.
Joseph was born on September 28, 1949 in Steubenville, Ohio. He was the son of the late Hayes and Elsa (Waybright) Petty. He lived in the Salem-Lisbon area most of his life.
Joseph served in the Army. He was in Vietnam. He was a member of the Washingtonville VFW and the Salem American Legion. He was also a life member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 40. He served many years as a Veterans Service Commissioner for Columbiana County.
He retired from Ohio Edison in 2012 as a lineman-troubleshooter. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and playing cornhole with his friends.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Connie (Webb) Petty, a son, Joseph Hayes Petty Jr., niece, Layla, and nephew, Brandon Petty. He will be missed by his two loving dogs "Meat" and "Tater," and many loving family members and friends. Joseph was preceded in death by his two brothers, Jack and Fleet Petty.
As per his request there will be no services. The family will hold a celebration of his life on May 30, 2015 at his home from 2:00 to 6:00 PM, to share the many good times and fond memories.
