Mary Celestine Green Giunca

Mary Celestine Green Giunca, 91, died in her sleep from complications of dementia on Jan. 13, 2018, at Brookridge Retirement Community. She was born on April 26, 1926 at her family's farm, Wortley, in Nokesville, Va. to Winifred Hinegardner Green and Duff McDuff Green. She attended Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Va. Though she spent over 50 happy years in Ohio, she considered herself first and foremost a Virginian. She believed in the power of good posture, nice manners and proper dress when confronting life's difficulties. She loved sewing, reading and cooking. She married Dr. George Edward. Giunca on September 24, 1955. They moved to Madison, Ohio, where her husband maintained a dental practice for over 30 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, and two brothers, Allen H. Green and Duff M. Green of Fredericksburg, Va. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Susan Giunca, of Winston-Salem, NC; her son, George Edward Giunca and his wife, Apisatha Hussadee Giunca, of Chiang Mai, Thailand; her brother Thad M. Green of Beaver Dam, Va.; her brother Samuel H. Green of Wilmington, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

A private funeral Mass is planned at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Winston-Salem. Burial will be at Robertsville Cemetery in Robertsville, Ohio.
