Mary Ellen "Mame" Hank
age 57, of Malvern, passed away, Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010 at Aultman Hospital, Canton following a five year battle with a neuromuscular disease. Mary Ellen was born in Canton, Ohio on July 29, 1953, the daughter of the late Emil J. and Helen Marie (Myers) Hank. She was a member of St. Theodore Romanian Byzantine Catholic Church, Alliance, and St. George Byzantine Catholic Cathedral, Canton. Mary Ellen was a funloving world traveler often referred to as a Romanian Princess. She was loved by all and will be dearly missed in the Romanian community. She assisted Emil Hank in founding American Road Machinery in 1971 and worked as a Vice President of Accounting at the company. She was a member of the Association of Romanian Catholics of America, Minerva Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Board of Directors of the Minerva Area Federal Credit Union.
Mary Ellen is survived by two sisters, Sherry (Raymond) Valentine of Minerva, Janice (Lois Hirshberg) Hank of Marstons Mills, Mass.; a brother, E. David Hank of Malvern; stepmother, Ann Marie Hank of Minerva; niece, Megan Valentine of Westerville, Ohio; nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Matthew (Michelle) Valentine of North Canton; great-niece, Alexandria Valentine.
Funeral services will be held at St. George Romanian Byzantine Catholic Cathedral, Canton, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010 with Rev. Fr. Ovidiu Marginean officiating. Calling hours will be held Friday 6-8 p.m. at St. George Romanian Byzantine Catholic Cathedral. A Saracusta service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. George Byzantine Catholic Cathedral, 1123 44th St. NE, Canton OH 44714 or ALS Care Project 6677 Frank Avenue NW, North Canton, OH 44720.
