Obituary

Robert Dale Bonar, of Minerva, passed away Tuesday, December 13th, 2011 at Aultman Hospital.

Robert was born in Bellaire, OH on October 31, 1924, the son of the late John R. and Katherine (Mentz) Bonar.

He was an electrician and served in the U.S. Army Air Corp as a SSG during WW II. He later also served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, VFW Post 4120, Alcoholics Anonymous, and the Carroll County Bee Club.

Robert is survived by his wife, Shirley (Chappie) Bonar; a son, Donald C. (Diane) Bonar of Canton; two daughters, Victoria Lynn Jarrell of San Antonio, TX, Rhonda D. (John) Miller of Magnolia; grandchildren Robert A. Bonar, Lindsey R. Bonar, Airman J. D. (Sheri) Miller, who followed in his grandfather's footsteps into the Air Force, ShirlAnn L. Miller, who is continuing her grandfather's profession as an electrician, GraceLynn A. Miller, Christopher Jarrell, Jeffrey Jarrell; great-grandchildren Devin Sherman, Holly Bonar; a sister, Nada (Red) Hammerly of Ingram, PA, special brother-in-law Carl (Patricia) Chappie and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by a brother Donald Bonar, a sister Geraldine Freeman; and grandchildren Freddie Shaffer, Steven Vaitsis

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Minerva, Ohio, at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 16th, 2011 with Celebrant Fr. Victor Cinson. Following the srvice, he will recieve full military honors. Calling hours will be held Thursday 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 pm. at St. Gabriel Catholic Church. There will be a prayer service at 8:45 p.m.
