Robert Louis Kastelic
Robert Louis Kastelic, 89, of East Rochester, died on November 12, 2014 at Mercy Hospital, Canton, Ohio, following a stroke. Son of the late Louis Kastelic Sr. and Antonia Jordan Kastelic, brother of Joseph Kastelic, Bernadette Rudolph and Louis Kastelic Jr., Robert is survived by his former wife Carolyn Yinger Kastelic and his children Robert Jr. (Karen), Paul, Lisa, Thomas (Sharon), and Steven (Kathy). He is also survived by his grandchildren Joseph Kastelic and Daniel Kastelic (Janelle), and Robert Brian Schlegel and Louis Schlegel, Julie Bellitt, and great grandchildren Samuel Kastelic and Sara Kastelic and Arianna Bellitt. Born and raised in Maple Heights, Ohio, Mr. Kastelic served as an officer in the US Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II, returning home to graduate from John Carroll University in 1948. He taught advanced mathematics at Maple Heights High School for more than 40 years, retiring in 1988. Mr. Kastelic was a lifelong admirer of the Slovenian language and culture, and always traveled with his buttonbox accordion. Visiting hours will be held beginning at 6 PM on Friday November 14th at Saint Gabriel Catholic Church, 400 W. High St., Minerva, Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 15th, 2014 at 11 AM at Saint
Gabriel with Celebrant Fr. Victor Cinson. Interment will immediately follow in Quaker Ridge Cemetery. Mr. Kastelic was a member and supporter of the American Legion and the family requests that any donations in his name be made to the Don V. Cross American Legion Post 357 in Minerva.
