Rolland Dale Wolf, 87, of Minerva, OH, passed away, Wednesday, March 2nd, 2016 in his home.
Rolland was born in Moultrie, OH on November 2, 1928, a son of the late Roy G. and Ruth (Bates) Wolf.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was a serviceman for Columbia Gas in the Malvern, Waynesburg, Magnolia, East Sparta district; retiring in 1994 after 41 years.
Rolland was a loyal Minerva resident, always thinking of the community, wanting the best for its residents and their children. He was an advocate for improvements between the citizens and the village administration. He was a member of VFW 4120 in Minerva and had been active in the Minerva Lions Club.
He is survived by the love of his life, Diana Yost; children, Jeff and Jess Yost, Chris Yost; grandchildren Ethan, Alexis and Brooklyn; her family, Doris Chiurco, Mike, Rhonda and Nate Chiurco, Frank and Bonnie Chiurco, Matt and Heidi Chiurco, Kara and Dave Prater, Joni and Kyle Somers, Ashley and Justin Zimmerman, Karli Somers, and Lindsey Somers, John Chiurco, Dominic Chiurco, Anthony Chiurco and Paige Asnen, most from the Malvern area.
He is also survived by Sandra and Ted House of Minerva, Shelly and Tim Rose of Glouster, Ohio, and Terry and Kathy Wolf of Alliance. He is survived by other good family members and friends all over. Friends around the country that originated from the Johnny Cash years and RV travels continued to keep in touch.
Rolland and Marie were instrumental in bringing famed golfer, Arnold Palmer, to the Minerva High School Sports Banquet in 1965. He and Marie were fans-friends of Johnny and June Cash from 1970 until their deaths in 2003. Their daughter, Rosanne Cash, even after Rolland's passing, continues to express her love and friendship.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Marie (Crouse) Wolf in 2007, and his brother Robert Wolf in 2003.
Funeral services will be held at the Deckman-Bartley Funeral Home, Malvern at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 9th, 2016 with Rev. A. Wallace Anderson and Mr. John Harple officiating.
Calling hours will be Tuesday 4 - 7 p.m. at the Deckman-Bartley Funeral Home. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery.
