Rose Marie Mathews, age 96 of Minerva, passed away at Laurels of Massillon on Monday, January 23, 2023. Rose was born in Minerva, Ohio on March 31, 1926 to Berry and Massaleaner (Simpson) Powell.

Rose was a member of the Minerva United Methodist Church. She worked for the post office. She loved cats.

Rose is survived by a daughter, Kathryn Mathews of Boston MA: a grandson, Joseph (Daisy) Mathews of South Carolina; a niece, Renee Powell and nephew, Larry Powell both of East Canton; a nephew Roy Walker; great-niece, Summer Walker; and other nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her husband, James; two sisters: Mary Alice Walker and Vivian Chambers; and four brothers: William, Berry, Dempsey, and Roy.

There will be a private funeral service. Burial will follow at East Lawn Cemetery.
