Ruth Evans Kocher, 85, of Malvern, died on Sunday, January 31, 2016.
Ruth was born in Louisville, Ohio, on August 22, 1930, a daughter of the late Elmer J. and Helen Elizabeth (Schroeder) Evans.
Her favorite time was cooking Sunday lunch for her family. A phenomenal bookkeeper and energetic lady, she started the Roman Plumbing Company in Canton in 1969 which is still owned and managed by her sons today. She built her dream home on the family property in 1985. She served the community through her service as a Sunday school teacher at St. Martin Lutheran Church for many years.
Ruth is survived by two sons, Scott (Nancy) Kocher, of Malvern and Douglas Kocher, of Malvern; seven grandchildren, Allison (Tim) Seidel of Pittsburgh, PA, Megan Kocher (Sara) of Minneapolis, MN, Scott Kocher II (Kate) of Malvern, Tatum (Nathan) Tustin of Waynesburg, PA, Tyler (Amy) Kocher of Canton, Kailee and Evan Kocher of Malvern; four great-grandchildren, Ava Kocher, Darrah and Raylan Seidel, and Hazel Hurley-Kocher.
Ruth is also survived by two sisters, Sandy (Bob) Mottice, of Manchester, MI; Martha (Garry) Hoskins, of Canton, MI; eighteen nieces and nineteen nephews.
She is preceded in death by her dear husband of 62 years, Dean Kocher, two brothers Jack and Jim Evans, and two sisters Bettylou Elliott and Doris Petit.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 4, 2016 at St. Martin Lutheran Church, Malvern, with Rev. A. Wallace Anderson officiating.
Calling hours will be from 4 - 7 p.m., Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at the Deckman-Bartley Funeral Home, Malvern. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery.
