Scott David Bass

Nov 21, 1974 — Jul 6, 2026

Malvern

Scott David Bass , age 51 of Malvern, passed away at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital on Monday, July 6, 2026. Scott was born November 21, 1974, to Gloria Proehl and Randolph Bass.

Scott was a loving son, brother, friend, uncle, and Gus Gus to Auggie. Scott was married to his best friend Brandy (Eakin) Bass for twenty-nine years. They have been inseparable since he called her from the Louisville Airport after knowing her for only two days and asking her to marry him. Scott was father to his greatest accomplishments: Camdyn Aileen (Trey) Bass-Tucci and Logan Scott Bass. If you were within earshot of him, you were going to hear about his children and feel his overwhelming love for them.

SFC Scott Bass was second proudest of his Army career. Scott spent twenty-one years in the military as a 19 Delta Cavalry Scout. He prided himself on his integrity. If he said it, he meant it, and he delivered on it. While in the service, Scott received the following: Bronze Star Medal (2nd Award), Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (3rd Award), Army Achievement Medal (7th Award), and Army Good Conduct Medal (6th Award). Campaign & Service Medals/Ribbons: Afghanistan Campaign Medal with two campaign stars, Iraq Campaign Medal with two campaign stars, NATO Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and Overseas Service Ribbon (2nd Award). Unit Awards: Meritorious Unit Commendation, and Superior Unit Award. Badges: Combat Action Badge, Air Assault Badge, Drive and Mechanic Badge, and Expert Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Rifle. And on a different note, he was awfully proud of being a Fort Knox racquetball champ circa early 2000’s.

Although the cancer was believed to be service related and directly related to exposure to burn pits on his deployments, he would have done it all over. He loved his soldiers, he loved his leadership (well, most of it), and he really loved being a 19 Delta. “Scouts Out!”

Scott was preceded in death by his mother-in-law (mom) Kathy Eakin; sister, Darla Hooper; sister-in-law, Vicki Payne; a brother-in-law, Richard Byrd.

Scott David Bass, we were the luckiest to have been loved by you. We will honor your memory everyday of our lives. I promise that our future grandson will know what a great man his grandfather was. We love you most!
