Obituary

Shirley Anne Saling, age 88 of Minerva, passed away at her residence on Friday, August 18, 2023. Shirley was born in Bayard, Ohio on May 5, 1935 to Everett and Ida (LeBeau) Pennock.

Shirley was a homemaker and provided help to anyone who needed it.  She delivered meals and cooked for the Minerva Community Meals.  She was very active in the Post 357 American Legion Auxiliary.

Those to cherish her memories are two daughters:  Kathy (Mark) Smithers of Alliance and Gloria Donohue of Minerva; grandchildren:  Jennifer (Brian) Snyder, Anthony (Scott) Wright, Jeffrey Wright, Melissa (Michael) Applegate, Brittney (Scott) Cassity, Nathan (Becky) Trescott, Jennifer (Rich) Clark, and Lauren (Griffin) Davenport; great-grandchildren: Sheridan Snyder, Jenna Wright, Mackenzie Anderson, Audrey Anderson, Chance Cassity, Mason Cassity, and Nathaniel Davis; three sisters: Barbara Blymiller of Canton, Deborah (Robert) Roberts of Minerva, and Geraldine (Vern) Wireman of Minerva; and two sisters-in-law: Kelly Pennock of Florida and Joan Pennock of Minerva.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Jack E. Saling; brothers: Harold Pennock and Gerald Pennock; sisters: Marilyn Pennock and Carolyn Plott; sons-in-law: Fred Wright and David Donohue.

Funeral service will be held at Bartley Funeral Home, 205 West Lincoln Way, Minerva, Ohio, on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at 7:00 PM.  Burial will be in Augusta Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Bartley Funeral Home.
