William Nathan Mayle Jr

William “Bill” Nathan Mayle, Jr., 83 of Minerva, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at Sprenger Health Care Rose Lane Nursing and Rehabilitation, Massillon, Ohio, with his devoted wife and children by his side. He was born in Zanesville, Ohio December 25, 1942, son of the late William Nathan and Dorothy Olive Worden Mayle, Sr., Bill is survived by his precious wife Peggy Blake Mayle they were married July 22, 1961, spending 65 glorious, wonderful years together.

Bill was a proud graduate who went on to honorably serve his country in the United States Navy. His faith remained at the heart of his life, and he was a devoted member of Highland Park Wesleyan Methodist Church in North Canton, Ohio. Bill did not simply speak about his faith —he lived it each day through his kindness, generosity, and willingness to help others. It was often the little things he did, quietly and without expecting anything in return, that meant the most to those who knew and loved him.

God blessed Bill with an extraordinary ability to understand how things worked. There seemed to be very little he could not repair, and he freely shared that gift by fixing things and lending a helping hand to family and friends whenever they needed him. For Bill, helping others was never a burden; it was one of the many ways he showed his love.

Although he made his home in Ohio, West Virginia always held a special place in his heart. He returned as often as he could to visit family and friends and to once again enjoy the place that meant so much to him. Bill loved hunting and found peace simply being outdoors, surrounded by God’s magnificent handiwork—the breathtaking mountains, peaceful streams, and beautiful valleys of West Virginia.

Above all else, Bill’s greatest joy was his family. Nothing meant more to him than the time they shared, the laughter that filled their gatherings, and the memories they created together. He cherished each member of his family deeply and made every moment with them count. The love Bill gave so freely, the faith he lived so faithfully, and the countless memories he leaves behind will remain forever in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.

Bill is survived by four children, Teresa Dolan (Bill), Anita Harvey, Barbara Kaufman (David), and William N. Mayle lll (Cheryl); thirteen grandchildren; thirty-one great grandchildren; and one sister, Linda Maley.

In addition to Bill parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Nicholas; two grandchildren, Noah and Bernadine; son-in-law, Randy Harvey; and one brother-in-law, Pastor David Maley.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 28, 2026, at the West Virginia National Cemetery with full military honors accorded by the United States Navy Honor Guard and the Taylor County Honor Guard with Pastor Gary Gray officiating. The family request those going to the service please meet at 1:00PM at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave., Grafton to go in procession to the cemetery.
