Obituary

William H. Strong, 93, of Malvern, formerly of Bridgeport, WV, passed away, Saturday, November 16th, 2013 at Great Trail Care Center, following a short illness.

William was born in Shenandoah, PA on July 12, 1920, a son of the late George D. and Sadie (Gibson) Strong.

He was the service manager at Monroe Calculating for 43 years and was active in the Bridgeport West Virginia Lions Club and the Bridgeport United Methodist Church. He was an avid bowler and golfer and coached Little League for many years.

He served in the U.S. Army during WW II in the 82nd Airborne Division making three combat jumps in the European Theater.

William is survived by a daughter, Nancy J.(Norman) Mankins, of Malvern, OH; three grandchildren Mark A. (Jennifer Kunkle) Mankins of Bellbrook, OH, Tracy, (Joe) Selogy of Bolivar, OH, Craig (Lisa) Mankins of Greensburg, PA and seven great-grandchildren Joe, Luke, Daniel and Sarah Selogy, Jeff, Abby and Kaitlyn Mankins; three sisters, Doris Hoerr, of Media, PA; Carolyn (Gene) Curtis, of Asworth GA; Elva Hart of Cresco, PA; and a brother, Charles G. Strong, of Harleysville PA.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Sarah Jane (Williams) Strong, a son, William D. Strong, brothers George D. and Russell A. Strong.

His wishes were to be cremated. Services will be held in West Virginia National Cemetery, Grafton, West Virginia at 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 2, 2013.
